To make your race day go smoother
What is a virtual run?
A virtual run allows participants to complete the CommUNITY Rainbow Run on their own. You will run or walk the 4.9K race distance at your own pace and at a time and location of your choosing. You choose your own starting line, whether it’s a treadmill, a park or your neighborhood street. This option will allow those invested so heavily in their training to keep going and be rewarded for their efforts with the shirt and official race T-shirt, backpack, downloadable race bib, and finisher medal.
Do I have to run the virtual run on a specific date?
We encourage participants to complete their race at 8 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, but realize this may not be possible for everyone.
Where can I run/walk?
Participants will be choosing their own route for the virtual event. It would be unsafe (particularly in these physical distancing days) for us to provide a route that all could use at any specific time. Additionally, the geographic nature of our participants being all over the country/world makes that difficult. We specifically ask that you do not use our usual race day route as these are not pedestrian safe without the usual street closures and police assistance.
Will there be awards for the virtual run?
Yes. We will be presenting awards in the following categories:
Best time, Farthest Runner, Most Money Raised, Largest Team, Best Couch Potato, and Best Costume.
When do I need to register by to receive my runner package prior to the race date?
Participants must register by September 1 to receive their shirt and race medal by the race day.
What is the inspiration behind the race?
On June 12, 2016, 49 angels sought the joy, love, and acceptance of Pulse Nightclub. Instead, they found hatred. And they never came home. They were gay. They were straight. Latin, black, white. Mothers. Brothers. Sisters. Daughters. Sons. Lost forever.
In the aftermath of the largest and deadliest act of violence affecting LGBTQ people and the deadliest terrorist attack by a single gunman in modern American history, our community came together to prove that love will overcome fear and hatred.
Please join us on Saturday, September 12, 2020, as we celebrate the “Love, Hope, Courage, Strength, Unity and Acceptance” that brought Orlando and the world together during the healing process following the Pulse nightclub tragedy of June 12, 2016.
Do I need to be a trained runner to participate?
No! The CommUNITY Rainbow Run is offered to all those who would like to take part in our 4.9K. There is also the option of walking distance as well.
Is the race timed?
The CommUNITY Rainbow Run is not a timed race. The purpose is to celebrate life while honoring the lives that were lost in the Pulse Nightclub shooting, therefore we encourage the runners to run or walk at whatever pace they would like.
What is included in my registration?
All participants will receive an official race T-shirt, backpack, downloadable race bib, and finisher medal.
What is the price for each runner package?
PNC Bank 4.9K Virtual Run registration is $49 and the Old Town Kissimmee Virtual Kids Fun Run is $5. Participants must register by September 1 to receive their shirt and race medal by the race day.
Where is pre-race packet pick-up?
