To make your race day go smoother
What is a virtual run?
A virtual run allows participants to complete the CommUNITY Rainbow Run on their own. You will run or walk the 4.9K race distance at your own pace and at a time and location of your choosing, or you may choose to participate from the comfort of your couch. You choose your own starting line, whether it’s a treadmill, a park or your neighborhood street. All virtual run participants will receive the official race t-shirt, backpack, downloadable race bib, and finisher medal.
Do I have to run the virtual run on a specific date?
We encourage participants to complete their race at 8 a.m. EST on Saturday, June 5th, but realize this may not be possible for everyone.
Where can I run/walk?
Participants choose their own route for the virtual run.
Will there be awards for the run?
Yes. We will be presenting awards in the following categories:
Best Time, Farthest Runner, Most Money Raised, Largest Team, Best Dressed Pet, and Best Costume.
When do I need to register by to receive my virtual runner package prior to the race date?
Participants must register by May 12, 2021 to receive their shirt, backpack and race medal by the run day.
What is the inspiration behind the run?
On June 12, 2016, 49 angels sought the joy, love, and acceptance of Pulse Nightclub. Instead, they found hatred. And they never came home. They were gay. They were straight. Latin, black, white. Mothers. Fathers. Brothers. Sisters. Daughters. Sons. Lost forever.
In the aftermath of the largest and deadliest act of violence affecting LGBTQ people and the deadliest terrorist attack by a single gunman in modern American history, our community came together to prove that love will overcome fear and hatred.
Please join us on Saturday, June 5, 2021, as we celebrate the “Love, Hope, Courage, Strength, Unity and Acceptance” that brought Orlando and the world together during the healing process following the Pulse nightclub tragedy of June 12, 2016.
Do I need to be a trained runner to participate?
No! The CommUNITY Rainbow Run is offered to all those who would like to take part in our 4.9K. There is also the option of walking distance as well.
Is the run timed?
The CommUNITY Rainbow Run is not a timed event. The purpose is to celebrate life while honoring the lives that were lost in the Pulse Nightclub shooting, therefore we encourage participants to run or walk at whatever pace they would like.
What is included in my registration?
All participants will receive an official run t-shirt, backpack, numbered run bib, and finisher medal.
