To make your race day go smoother
What is the inspiration behind the race?
On June 12, 2016, 49 angels sought the joy, love and acceptance of Pulse Nightclub. Instead, they found hatred. And they never came home. They were gay. They were straight. Latin, black, white. Mothers. Brothers. Sisters. Daughters. Sons. Lost forever.
In the aftermath of the largest and deadliest act of violence affecting LGBTQ people and the deadliest terrorist attack by a single gunman in modern American history, our community came together to prove that love will overcome fear and hatred.
The goal of the CommUNITY Rainbow Run is to bring everyone within the community together to prove that hate will not win. The 4.9K was inspired by the Angels taken, the first responders and survivors that had to endure such a horrific tragedy.
Do I need to be a trained runner to participate?
No! The CommUNITY Rainbow Run is offered to all those who would like to take part in our 4.9K. There is also the option of walking the distance as well.
Is the race timed?
The CommUNITY Rainbow Run is not a timed race. The purpose is to celebrate life while honoring the lives that were lost in the Pulse Nightclub shooting, therefore we encourage the runners to run or walk at whatever pace they would like.
